drop that Mic, boo
that’s literally the same character i dont understand what the issue is
i think hes saying how after all this time most main characters are still burly hypermasculine white men
Here’s the thing:
Smaller studios especially; should not have to cater to your needs because you feel like you lack representation. A bunch of white dudes making a game who made the character white seems pretty reasonable.
Most main characters nowadays are not burly hypermasculine white men, and the great thing is there’s a shift towards more poc and women as main characters as well! Slowly, but surely.
Wolfenstein is a game about murdering Nazis and is a game that completely essentially started the FPS genre. It was similar to Doom in many ways in that it took inspirations from big action movies, and if you’re ever played the games you realize that they’re kinda making fun of and shitting on the idea of the “hypermasculine white man”.
At the end of the day, videogames are an artform and I’m getting extremely bored of people complaining that developers aren’t catering to them. Most AAA games were pretty stagnant and unimpressive for a while, but the fantastic thing about games is anyone can code and anyone can do it. Stop acting ignorant for no reason and blatantly searching for problems where there aren’t any.
